January 3, 2012

Purple Door Festival 2012 will be held on Saturday, April 21st in Lebanon, PA. The fest announced the new date on Christmas Day and released more information this past Friday. Below are select portions from the announcements posted to PurpleDoor.com. Keep an eye on the fest's website for upcoming artist announcements and more information!

Purple Door 2012 will be held Saturday, APRIL 21st at the Lebanon Expo Center(same place as last year). We are still working out all the details but the now premier One Day Festival will be held completely inside on two stages with approximately 15 of your favorite bands rocking it out from 11am until 11pm... and if that's not enough! Purple Door will be cheaper ... much cheaper! The advance festival ticket will be $25.

Being completely transparent with you, festivals are becoming harder and harder to do for many reasons. Just like with ever other area in life, the cost of everything has gone up for putting on a festival. This has created a challenge as we struggle to keep Purple Door affordable.

When trying to decide what to do in 2012, we decided that doing a one day festival (as we had done the first 4 years we did PD), in April is better than not doing the festival at all! We do realize that April creates some challenges as many of you who are out of the area at college; but our hope is that many of you may come back for the weekend to dance it out one last time before you hit the books for your finals in May! We also are hoping that the April date will work better for the many college students who ARE in the area at Messiah, LBC, F&M, Millersville, Lebanon Valley and so on.

Having the festival completely inside will mean that we can cut down on the cost on our end, and we don't have to worry about the weather conflicting with the event. As stated in our Christmas Day post .... we will put everything on on 2 stages and are shooting to have around 15 bands. We DO expect that the styles of music you have heard at PD in the past will be similar, however they will just be done on 2 stages. We still plan to have food vendors, artist merchandise and other vendors as we have always had. The main stage will actually be larger than the stages has been in the past at PD and will feature state of the art lighting like a good rock show should have!

NOW WITH ALL THAT SAID .... IT'S TIME TO GET ON WITH THE SHOW! We are working hard at booking the fest as we speak. We can tell you two of the Purple Door favorites will not be there this year as they are already committed elsewhere (ABR & Texas in July). We have been in contact with Five Iron as it would be awesome to see them again at PD but they, too, cannot make it work.

Moving forward... we would love to hear your other suggestions for booking. We value YOUR input!

Love,
The Purple Door Staff!
